COVID-19 is a new illness that is caused by a virus called Coronavirus​, it can affect your lungs and airways.

Symptoms Of Coronavirus​

The symptoms of coronavirus​ are: ( But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.)

  • A cough
  • A high temperature
  • Shortness of breath

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.

How Coronavirus​ Is Spread

The COVID-19 is a new virus and there isn’t much exact information on how the virus is spreading from person to person.

Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets, so they think this will spread in a similar way.

It is also said that it is very unlikely to spread through objects and food.

How To Avoid Catching Or Spreading Coronavirus​

Do

  • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly for the recommended time of at least 20 seconds.
  • Wash your hands when you get home.
  • Wash your hands when you get to work.
  • Use alcohol-based sanitizer gel.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough with a tissue or your sleeve, avoid coughing straight to your hands.
  • Put tissues in the bin as soon as you finish with them, do not leave them around.
  • Try to avoid contact with unwell people.

Don’t

Do not touch your face ( eyes, mouth and nose ) if your hands are not clean.

What To Do If You Think You Have The Symptoms

To protect yourself and other please DO NOT GO to your GP, Hospital or Pharmacy.

  • If you feel you have the symptoms mention above.
  • If you have been abroad and think you could have been infected with the coronavirus.
  • If you have been in contact with somebody that has been diagnosed with the virus.

Self-isolate

You might need to self-isolate to stop you from contaminating others, here is a list of what to do.

  • Stay at home. ( If you need something from the shops or run errands ask your family or friends if they can help )
  • Do not go to work, school and avoid public places.
  • Do not use taxis or public transport.
  • Avoid visitors coming into your home, family and friends are ok, or delivery services people to help you with your errands ( try to avoid being in contact with them.)

Treatment For Coronavirus

So far there is no medical treatment for Coronavirus.

The only treatment you can be given is to help relieve the symptoms whilst your body fights the virus.
